Your property is likely to be the largest single investment you will make and at Aquaproof we will undertake works that will keep it in perfect condition and nurture and protect your investment

Many properties have unused basements and cellars...

With the use of the correct waterproofing system, these can be transformed into wonderful new living spaces.

Converting a damp cellar or basement can be a surprisingly straightforward way of increasing living space and can substantially increase the value of your property.

Waterproofed basements can be converted into kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, living rooms, studies, or even home cinemas... ...you are limited only by your imagination.

Tanking

In commercial premises, common uses for basements include restaurants, bars/nightclubs, additional storage space, retail space, and car parking spaces.

The two waterproofing systems...

Aquaproof has over twenty years experience in the waterproofing of damp and wet basements. Because the construction methods and degree of dampness found in basements vary considerably, we offer two BBA-approved waterproofing systems for creating a dry basement:

Oldroyd Xv Cavity Drainage Membrane

The Oldroyd Xv system is particularly suited to waterproofing the Victorian basements commonly encountered in the UK as it does not rely on the soundness of the underlying substrate for its effectiveness. The membrane is attached to walls and ceilings by means of special sealed fixing plugs, whilst on the floor there is normally no need for any form of fixing.

Tanking

The Oldroyd Xv system can be covered with plasterboard, screed, or a floating timber floor. A drainage facility, incorporating a sump and pump, will need to be included as part of the system.

Vandex Waterproof Cement System

The Vandex system is applied to walls, floors, and ceilings using a trowel. The system is particularly useful when waterproofing basements where complicated shapes have to be covered. It is usually the most appropriate system for waterproofing flat ceilings, and has the advantage that a sump and pump are not necessary. However, the Vandex system can only be used on sound, well prepared substrates.

Combination Systems

The best solution is often a combination of the two systems (e.g. Oldroyd Xv applied to floors and walls with the Vandex system used to waterproof a flat ceiling).

Heating and Ventilation

Additional heating and ventilation may be required depending on the proposed use of the basement.
